The Indian online donation landscape faces challenges for effective contributions. Limited awareness and trust in online donation platforms hinder potential donors. Digital donation processes and their impact aren't fully understood. Additionally, some platforms lack transparent reporting and impact tracking, further reducing donor trust in online charitable giving.

On-the-go online donations face their own set of challenges. Time constraints demand streamlined processes, while the small screens make information presentation and navigation tricky. Security concerns arise on public devices, and varying connectivity poses further obstacles.

Addressing these mobile-specific challenges alongside the broader issues is crucial to fostering a culture of online giving in India. By creating user-friendly, secure, and transparent mobile donation platforms, individuals will be empowered to contribute conveniently and confidently to charitable causes, enhancing the overall landscape of online donations in the country.

Based on research involving interviews and surveys with a group of 8 individuals, including 6 participants aged 24-30 and 2 participants aged 50-60, the following insights were gathered:

• Transparency and accountability were deemed essential by 100% of participants.

• In terms of ideal UX, 60% of participants prioritized a secure donation process, while 50% preferred an easy-to-use interface and a seamless donation process.

• Over 60% of participants cited finding a reliable charity as the biggest challenge for donation.

• 60% of donors are concerned about security of personal info when donating online.

• 50% prefer in-app notifications, to stay informed about the impact of their donations.

These insights guided the development of the Donate App, offering a centralized platform, ad-free experience, verified charities, personalized recommendations and transparent donations for an engaging donation experience.

A thorough analysis was conducted on donation-related apps, including Toucan Giving, Impact Guru, Ketto, Impact, Milaap and ShareTheMeal by WHO. The evaluation encompassed features, user experience, donation process, and overall impact.

Donate addresses the shortcomings of competitors through a centralized platform dedicated to Indian charities. It offers a diverse range of causes, user-friendly interface, and transparent donation process. Donate revolutionizes charitable giving, empowering individuals to make a meaningful impact.

Concerns about acceptance and engagement arose due to the departure from the familiar. Consequently, the decision was made to discontinue the alternative design and reassess the approach.
